Hello and welcome to photography and nature, I built this website for my amateur wildlife photography to share with others the joys that wildlife photography can bring you.
Living here in West Virginia one gets to see lots of wildlife, and if one keeps a sharp eye out you may even run across wildlife that many rarely ever see, when this happens it usually happens very quickly so you must be ready for any type of shot and in many different lighting conditions. When you shoot long enough you will eventually find your' own technique and your' own style, it took around two years of constant wildlife photography and hands on shooting before I ever even started to notice my own style starting to creep in. First you must decide why you are photographing wildlife, why?, because this will help you to create your' own style in the future, for instance do you plan on trying to take wildlife photography to a pro level or do you want to do it just for a hobby like me such as hunting or fishing, I think wildlife photography has many similarities to hunting as it all comes down to the shot for my style. A quick rundown of my style is this, I photograph fast moving animals sometimes in very low light conditions and sometimes at the crack of dawn before the first glimpse of sunlight or at dusk just as many of the dusk to dawn lights began to come on in the human world and I will shoot anywhere between these times. I also enjoy photographing birds in flight, deer, and many other wildlife while they are doing there normal everyday thing, I usually like shooting at long enough distances so that I do not distract the animal I am photographing. Now you may ask why would any wildlife photographer shoot like this? well in my personal opinion wildlife are more like rebels, wildlife doesn't adhere to mankind's 9:00 to 5:00 life style and I think that's what makes wildlife so interesting, wildlife are the ones who choose the time and the shooting light and the environmental conditions, "isn't that awesome?". I will have more on my style in the about page of this website but this site will have a wildlife photography blog, gallery, members area and more, and I will close on this note, "through this covid19 mess", that we have all been going through amateur wildlife photography has helped me to enjoy a great hobby that keeps me calm. |
